A lovely Royal Doulton antique fish plate initialled CH for Charles Hart.
Centred in the plate is a hand-painted underwater scene featuring a pair of perch; the fish illustration is encircled with a double gilt border.
The underside of the plate bears the Royal Doulton hallmark, with the name of the fish and the pattern number.
Charles Hart worked for Royal Doulton from 1880 to 1927. He was well known as a painter of fish and game scenes, as well as flowers, but he also painted castles as well as romantic lakes and inns.
Diameter: 24 cm / 9 1/2 inches.
The plate is in excellent condition commensurate with its age, circa 1920s, with minimal surface wear and no damages or repairs.
