Christian Dior's reputation as one of the most celebrated couturiers of the 20th century was launched in 1947 with his collection, the 'New Look' celebrating ultra-femininity and opulence in women's fashion. He launched his first collection of fashion jewellery to complement his garments in 1948 and hired some of the talented jewellery designers of the time to design collections, such as Kramer, Henkel and Grossé designers who were all active during the 1950s.
In 1955 Christian Dior granted the exclusive license to manufacture his designs to Henkel and Grosse, based in the famous goldsmith town of Pforzheim Germany; Henkel and Grosse held the license for 50 years, until 2005, when the company was taken over by Dior. The tradition of adding dates to Christian Dior jewellery first began in 1956 and it continued until the 1970s. Henkel and Grosse jewellery was very high quality, made from gold plated and rhodium plated metal.
Please note this is a vintage piece and there is only one available.
