Comedy doyenne Joan Rivers adored jewellery. 'She loved to shop for it, wear it and design it'. Many of her designs were inspired by her personal collection of vintage fine jewellery, especially Fabergé jewellery. Joan said: 'I collect jewelry with an intensity usually reserved for fine art collectors. And why not? Jewelry is art'. She launched her first jewellery collection, Joan Rivers Classics Collection in 1990. Her jewellery is known for its vintage-inspired designs, intricate detailing and high-quality craftsmanship.
Joan Rivers owned several authentic Fabergé pieces and was inspired by them when creating her own jewellery. She admired the craftsmanship, elegance and historical significance of Fabergé eggs which were originally created for Russian royalty by Peter Carl Fabergé in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Joan Rivers introduced Fabergé-style eggs into her collection in the 1990s, incorporating bright enamels and crystals set in gold-plated metal, mimicking the opulence of the original Fabergé eggs but at an affordable price for collectors and fans. Her Fabergé style designs remain highly collectible today, reflectlng her love for luxurious, vintage-inspired jewellery.
